Care For Geriatric Patients
The Neag Comprehensive Cancer Center proudly partners with UConn Health’s Center for Geriatrics & Healthy Aging to provide complete care for older cancer patients.
Geriatric patients have unique needs that require specialized care. For example, they may not be able to tolerate some of the most common cancer treatments, they may have underlying health issues, or they may be taking other medications that could interact with cancer medications. Our geriatric oncology experts are acutely aware of these differences. They are deeply committed to helping older cancer patients preserve strength and stamina and are sensitive to numerous other quality-of-life issues.
Emphasis is placed on educating patients, their families, and the community. Research initiatives also contribute to the prevention and treatment of cancer in the aging population.
