Vein Disease

What is Vein Disease?

Lower limb vascular examination

Vein disease occurs when the valves in the veins that prevent blood from flowing back down into the legs fail to close completely. The blood collects in the lower extremities and can cause symptoms in the leg such as pain, swelling, and itching.

Diagnosis

Our surgeon will provide a diagnosis based on results of an ultrasound, CT scan, or MRI. Treatment for vein disease often includes surgery to either remove the vein or seal it off to prevent the backward flow of blood.
